Eaglemoss (Ferrari Collection)

Eaglemoss, like DeAgostini, has a magazine and a 1:43 scale model car.

There were 80 scheduled issues of the Ferrari Collection, I purchased one copy of the magazine for 25 lari ($14.16, the cover price:399 roubles), the edition with the Ferrari Testarossa (#10). I also picked up a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (cost £6.99) in Modelzone (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) loose without a magazine. To these I have recently added  the 246 GTS Dino. (#7), and I’d really like #32 with the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso.

The models are nicely detailed and come with a plinth. The magazine like with DeAgostini is in Russian.

  1. I really like the 250GTO, I have a similar die-cast model made by Burago (1/18th I think) mounted on a wooden plinth stored in the attic. The original ‘as purchased’ model had a nice body but ugly cheap looking plastic engine bay and interior. I stripped it out and painted it to give it a more realistic look. I must dig it out and post a picture of it.

The magazine looks nice but at that price over 80 issues that would be a staggering sum of money!

    • When I was a kid I subscribed to “Animal Life” a magazine that built into an encylopaedia of Animal Life over something like 96 weeks, it cost an awful lot in the end and I didn t use it much, I haven’t subscribed to a magazine since…I just have one token issue of the Ferrari Collection magazine…also 80 Ferraris is rather too much of just one brand…I’m happy just to have just the 250 GTO and the Testarossa…

  2. I had two subscriptions when I was younger which built up into encyclopedias, one was a superb Disney hard back series of books called ‘The Wonderful World of Knowledge’, I wish I still had them as they were fantastic quality and a lovely read. I still have fond memories of reading them as a child. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-books/truro/walt-disney-wonderful-world-of-knowledge-books-1973-sat-of-20/562509844 They tried a remake of them a few years ago but they were not of the same quality and the content had been dumbed down significantly.

The other subscription was later on to a ‘Weapons and Warfare’ magazine which built up over hundreds of issues.

I have been tempted a few times to buy the magazines that come with things like cars and build up into a collection but they are too expensive and often the whole collection can be bought on ebay a year or two later for a fraction of the price!

    • The 400 Superamerica (#30) looks great, I haven’t seen it except in the photos. I’m looking for #32 the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. I only have three the Testarossa, Dino and 250GTO.
