Scale models come in a variety of scales. Fantasy spaceships can be as small as 1:20000 at the other end of the scale fashion dolls can be 1:2. Model cars come in a vast range of scales: some radio controlled models can be as big as 1:12 or even 1:10, whilst small cars can be as tiny as 1:148 to go with rail layouts. In my own collection scales vary from 1:24 to 1:87 (approx). I was in a 1:18 group on Facebook but was banned for making a link to this blog, I also felt a little out of place as my favoured scale for collecting is 1:64 (Hot Wheels/Matchbox size).
1:24 is a very popular scale for automobile models. In the US there is a very minor variation of the 1:24 scale, where many automobile plastic model kits are scaled at 1:25.
I was pleased to find an Italian made model of a Renault Alpine, this month, at Drybridge Market by Bburago. It cost me 20 lari ($11.49).
I now have six models in 1:24. Latest addition a Bburago Maserati Gran Turismo.
The Maisto Chevrolet Corvette is much bigger than the Renault or the Kinsmart Fiat 500.
