Italian Cars: Lancia

When I posted about other Italian brands; Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Lamborghini, I didn’t have any Lancias in my collection. Now I have two.

Lancia Stratos (Hot Wheels) and Lancia Delta S4 (Bburago)

Lancia like Alfa Romeo is a true brand for petrolheads. In the seventies and eighties, they were somewhat notorious for rust, but they did make some spectacular rally cars, first the crazy Bertone designed Lancia Stratos (It was a very successful rally car, winning the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976.) and then in the 80s the phenomenal Lancia Delta  (It, too,was a very successful rally car, winning the World Rally Championship in six consecutive years from 1987 to 1992). The Stratos is in the colours of Alitalia, the Italian Airline who sponsored the rally team. Both models I purchased secondhand. The Bburago 1:43 model of the Lancia Delta S4 is actually “Made in Italy“. The more playworn Stratos model is “Made in China” but it only cost me one lari.
