I generally prefer cars to vans but I have picked up a few vans lately. Vans can be used by diecast manufcaturers to advertise various products (the Matchbox Ford A Vans came in many liveries). That doesn’t interest me, I did pick up a couple of food trucks, it is interesting to compare Matchbox and Hot Wheels.
Unusually the Matchbox has better wheels (for free riding) but the Hot Wheels has better detail. The Matchbox body is plastic on a diecast base, the Hot Wheels has a diecast body and a plastic base.
The Matchbox Food Truck has some products along the side but the Hot Wheels Sweet Streets has an interior with server, cash till and hot plates.
I am interested in any vans in Royal Mail Livery, although the Majorette Kangoo in French “La Poste” livery with its opening door is a more interesting model than the two Corgi Junior Royal Mail Vans (Bedford and Land Rover).
Finally I have a couple of Matchbox Austin Mini Vans and a Majorette Renault 4 Van, vans based on cars are interesting but I haven’t seen many in diecast (the Ford Model A Vans excepted).
Here is a Moskvitch Van made by DeAgostini in 1:43 scale.
