The Alfa Romeo 156 “Vigili Del Fuoco” (Fire Chief car) had been on my wants’ list for a while. I had hoped to find it separately, but the only one I found was part of a Bburago Open and Play “Fire Station” Set.
The cover art shows a Fiat 500 “Carabinieri” but this is not part of the set. I have an Alfa 156 “Carabinieri”. As a child I had enjoyed the Matchbox Construction Site, which comprised cardboard cutouts of buildings and loading ramps.
The Bburago set has cardboard buildings, three plastic figures, a sign, a barrier and a helicopter.
The printed card was slightly warped. I applied the stickers as dextrously as I could but still managed to rip the helicopter windscreen sticker. Despite the Italian livery on the Fire Chief Car, the signage in the play set is only in English “Fire Station” and “High Voltage”.
There are cardboard flames coming out of the burning building conveniently located across the road from the Fire Station. The two yellow firemen figures are apparently holding a hose but there is no additional hosing and no fire engines in the set.
That’s enough of writing this post, I have a fire to put out…
