I bought a Matchbox Tow Truck today, one of the non-licensed vehicles found throughout the 2014 range …this was called MBX T.O.W. 50T (MB2) on the packaging or Urban Tow Truck (MB839) on the base.
I was disappointed that there were no moving parts…the towing mechanism is fixed.
I have a much older Matchbox Dodge Wreck Truck from the late sixties with regular wheels (#13 scale1:85), the red plastic hook was lost before I got it, but I found a chain which acts as a substitute.
Hot Wheels don’t make a lot of trucks but there is one called Repo-Duty, I imagine it is a truck for the repo man to take your car away if you haven’t paid your debts.
I like wreck trucks because they can be paired up with other vehicles for interesting photos.
Yatming have a bright red Hino Tow truck ideal for pulling my wrecked Yatming Beetle.
Car haulers are fun for displaying models too, Jim. And, there’s also a nice Matchbox Ford Wreck Truck that would look good with your Dodge … http://theracecase.wordpress.com/2012/06/10/1968-ford-heavy-wreck-truck/
I’m looking out for a Matchbox DAF Car Transporter or two, I have an earlier Guy Transporter but it is broken…
I have posted about Car Transporters now and mentioned your comment: https://jimholroyd365d.wordpress.com/2014/08/07/car-transporters/
